Preston Francis Meaux, a talented fitter at shipyards in the area including Burton Shipyard, passed away on August 14, 2025, in Orange, Texas. Born on December 12, 1941, in Gueydon, Louisiana, he made a life filled with creativity and warmth.

A Cajun man, he retained his knowledge of the language and spoke with an accent. Preston was known for being very good with his hands and was a jack of all trades. His personality shone through in everything he did. He loved woodworking, fishing, and spending time outdoors, where he felt most at home.

He leaves behind his son, Charles Meaux, Sr. and his wife, Mary; his daughter, Cynthia Meaux; and his beloved grandchildren, Crystal Lege and her husband, Corey, Charles Meaux, Jr. and his wife, Carol, and Steven Meaux and his girlfriend, Joseline. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Josette Meaux and Ryan Pham.

Preston is preceded in death by his parents, Gaston Meaux and Paolite (Istre) Meaux, along with his brothers; Percy Meaux Sr., Leo Meaux; and sisters Juanita Schexnider; and Pat.

He will be missed dearly by his loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Simple Tributes in Orange.
