Gerard Patrick Frost

Gerard Patrick Frost , born on Sept. 1, 1948 in Midland, Ontario, Canada, to Arthur Joseph and Seraphine Hentjens Frost. Gerry, as he was most commonly called, grew up with a fierce determination that carried him through life. On February 17, 2025 at his home in Beaumont, TX, at the age of 76, he passed away peacefully after a fight with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. A man of grit, heart, and unshakable devotion, Gerry leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and a deep love for his family and the pursuit of knowledge. Gerry was a wonderful husband, a proud father to his children, and a loving grandfather. He was also a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, always ready with a story or a challenge to sharpen their minds.

Gerry’s career as a Surveyor/Inspector spanned over 50 years, where his tough exterior and tireless work ethic earned him respect, while his quiet acts of kindness won him friends. He thrived on learning, whether through books, documentaries, or spirited discussions and never shied away from a good debate, especially if it meant defending what he held dear.

Gerry loved history. You couldn’t sit with him for five minutes without hearing about some battle or president or obscure fact he’d dug up. And debating? That was his sport. He’d take the opposite side just to keep you sharp, grinning when you finally landed a good point. I think he loved the fight as much as the truth—maybe more. It wasn’t about winning; it was about learning, about pushing us to think deeper.

His desire to debate and argue can only be matched by his need to pick and antagonize! Sarcasm was his love language.

Gerry wasn’t perfect. He’d be the first to tell you that, probably with a laugh and a sarcastic jab. But above all, Gerry’s life was defined by sacrifice and love for his family. He was the steady hand fixing broken things and the voice encouraging his family to strive for more. His compassion shone brightest in small, selfless moments that mostly went unseen.

Gerry is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kimberle O”Pry Frost; his children, Myles Frost (Talita), Andrea Frost Bell, Cale O”Pry, Amy Bardgett Lovig (Laryn), and Jessica Franklin (Kody); his grandchildren, Caleigh O’Pry, Jackson Frost, Sonora Bardgett, Kamaya and Keoni Lovig, Ivy and Eddie Franklin, and Eli and Mason Froehlich. Bonus children; Casey Rice, Michelle Froehlich (Nick), Jon Walecki, Brandye Duhon (Kirk), and Alex and Joanna, his siblings, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents.

A memorial service will be held on March 1st, at 11am at Infant Jesus Catholic Church 243 S. LHS Dr. Lumberton, TX, followed by a gathering in the church hall to share stories and celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX.

Gerry was an outstanding individual with a compassionate heart, a great and true friend. When I first started working for him, he expressed concerns about my suitability for the job, but ultimately, he commended me on my exceptional work ethic. He even offered me future job opportunities, which I appreciated. Initially, I had doubts about my ability to handle the demands of the job, but Gerry's praise and acknowledgment of his initial misgivings alleviated those concerns. I explained to him that, as a woman in a male-dominated field, I felt compelled to work harder to prove myself. Gerry respected that and consistently spoke positively about his family, particularly Kim. His commitment to providing for his loved ones was truly admirable. Gerry was a true friend, and I have immense respect for him. He will be deeply missed, and Kim, my thoughts are with you; I wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
