Kenneth "Kenny" Roy Ogden

Kenneth “Kenny” Roy Ogden

Kenny was born on September 27, 1945 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Elton and Marjorie Ogden, and went to be with Jesus on September 4, 2025 just 3 weeks shy of his 80th birthday. His childhood was full of joy and laughter surrounded by 7 siblings, and his best friend Carolyn, who would later become his wife of nearly 60 years.

Kenny and Carolyn were married on April 9, 1966 and later welcomed two boys into their lives. Kenny served in the army, and worked for Mobil Oil for 25+ years until he finally retired for a short period of time. Only to come out of retirement to work with his youngest son for another 7 years. Those years traveling with his son meant the world to the both of them. Kenny enjoyed traveling with Carolyn, and they took many trips in their camper to national parks.

To know Kenny was to love him. He never met a stranger and a perfect picture of kindness and patience. He was gentle and loved his family fiercely. He loved to hunt and fish, and especially loved lake weekends with his whole family. He loved the calmness of the water and enjoying the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. He was a fishing guide on Toledo Bend Lake for 7 years where he earned the nickname “crappie king”. He lived under the philosophy that you can never have enough fishing rods and baits or case pocket knives. In recent years he loved spending time reading to his great grandkids and showing them old pictures on his iPad, and he never missed an opportunity to tell people about his love for God.

On his last day he and his wife, Carolyn, went to the jewelry store to get him a new wedding ring. With a final act of love he asked that she would put the new ring on his hand one last time. He loved her until his last breath and would remind Carolyn of that nightly.

Preceded in death by his father Elton, mother Marjorie, and his oldest sister Elaine. He is survived by his brothers Robert and Wayne and his wife Pat, his sisters Glenda, Sue, Helen, and Wanda her husband Charles, and Wife Carolyn, his sons Kenneth Troy and Jeffry and his wife Pauline, his grandchildren Colby and his wife Lauren, Garrett and his wife Karlee, Katy, Cassie, and Jared, and great grandchildren L.A., Clay, C.T., Josie, and K.J. And countless nieces and nephews and friends who he considered family.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date to be announced by the family.

Condolences

This is Dinky. I was afraid you may not recognize my alias name. You know I loved Kenny. Always a good life and a good time. Loved to listen to his stories and he was a good listener. He went at the most perfect time of his life but that could have been on nearly everyday. We are all sure where that man is and what he is doing. May Jesus hug you all until you are properly joined together again. Love you all from bottom of my heart. Dinky.
