Marvin Charles Barwick, 64, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2026, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on March 26, 1962, in Vidalia, Georgia.

From a young age, Marvin was no stranger to hard work. As a boy, he worked at his uncle’s bait store near Crooked River State Park, fitting for someone who would carry a love of fishing throughout his life. Over the years, Marvin worked at J.P. Stevens Woolen Mill, where he assisted the mechanic, and later for Holland/Reeves Construction as an equipment operator and in machine maintenance. He went on to work for the City of St. Marys as a shop mechanic and truck driver before later serving the city as an inspector.

Marvin was happiest when he was working with his hands or spending time outdoors. He could work on just about any engine, large or small, from lawn mower engines, boat engines, automobile engines to fire truck engines. He loved fishing, especially with his brothers and his longtime friend Johnny, and enjoyed going to NASCAR races. After retirement, he treasured having more time for fishing and for the family and friends who meant so much to him.

Above all, Marvin loved his family. He deeply loved his children and adored his grandchildren, spoiling them every chance he got.

Marvin is survived by his children, Tiffany Woodland and her husband, Brannon, of Lumberton, Texas, and John Barwick, of Kountze, Texas. He was a proud grandfather to Kyler Woodland, Nicholas Woodland, Charleigh Woodland, Chandler Barwick, and Chessa Barwick.

He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Barfield and her husband, Jack, of St. Marys, Georgia; Beth Warnock and her husband, Ken, of East Dublin, Georgia; and Susan Duggan and her husband, Lee, of Rentz, Georgia; and his brothers, Kim Barwick and his wife, Vickie, of St. Marys, Georgia; Chris Barwick and his wife, Danielle, of Lothair, Georgia; and George Barwick and his wife, Jan, of Lothair, Georgia.

Marvin was preceded in death by his brother, John Barwick; his father, Marvin Barwick Jr.; his mother, Jeanette Barwick; and his sister, Nancy Richardson.

Marvin will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his ability to fix just about anything, his love of fishing and racing, and, above all, the love he had for his family. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories, stories, and love he leaves behind will remain with his family forever.
