Michael Ray Barnette - Simple-Tributes

Michael Ray Barnette, born on February 3, 1960, in Austin, Texas, left this world peacefully in Beaumont, Texas, on October 21, 2025. Michael was a beloved individual who cherished his family and created lasting memories throughout his life.

Growing up, he found joy in playing baseball and basketball. Sports were a significant part of his life, and he was particularly fond of Dallas Cowboys football. Michael had a talent for refurbishing homes and was knowledgeable in construction, which became a fulfilling hobby for him which he made of living.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Stephanie Holopainen of Graham, NC, and Melissa Barnette of Hamilton, TX. Michael also leaves behind his brothers, Robert Knight of Corinth, TX, Christopher Knight of Dallas, TX, and James Richard Nale Jr. of Dallas, TX. His legacy continues through his daughter, Ashley Barnette of Dallas, TX and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Zara Rozelle Zerby, his father, Chester Ray Barnette, and his brother, Steven George Barnette. He will be remembered for his love of family and the joy he brought to those around him. Michael's spirit lives on in the hearts of his loved ones.

I loved my BIG (somewhat older) brother. He was 101/2 months older than me. we were both born in the same year! Although we didn't get to spend all of our childhood years together, we were able to have a "bond". I remember we played sports like baseball and football together with my other younger brothers and the kids in the neighborhood when we lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There are many other good memories that we shared along the way, but Michael had his challenges in life as we all do. RIP my brother!! You will be missed!!
