A Life Remembered
Obituary
In Loving Memory of Paul David Tomplait
September 10, 1962 – July 31, 2026
There are some people whose presence leaves a mark on every life they touch. Paul David Tomplait was one of those people. On July 31, 2026, at the age of 63, Paul peacefully entered the presence of his Savior, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, selfless love, and a life devoted to serving others.
Born on September 10, 1962, in Birmingham, Alabama, Paul was raised in Nederland, Texas, where he built the foundation of the man he would become. He graduated from United Christian Academy and dedicated much of his life to serving his community, earning his Master Peace Officer License among many other accomplishments. More than any title he held, however, Paul was a servant at heart.
His greatest calling was his faith in Jesus Christ. Ministry was never simply something Paul did—it was who he was. Whether through words of encouragement, a helping hand, or quiet acts of kindness, he faithfully pointed others toward God’s love. He was the kind of man who showed up without being asked, prayed without hesitation, and loved without conditions.
Outside of his calling to serve, Paul found joy in God’s creation. He loved hunting and fishing, where he felt at peace surrounded by the outdoors. Those who knew him will remember his steady strength, generous heart, and the way he made family and friends feel loved, valued, and never alone.
Above all else, Paul treasured his family. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Jamie Tomplait; his children, Jace Tomplait, Jordan Tomplait, and Courtney Tomplait; and his cherished granddaughter, Sienna Blaire Myers, who brought him endless joy.
He is also survived by his siblings, Glenda Saxon, Ronda Wills and her husband, Walter Wills, and Glenn Dale Tomplait Jr. and his wife, Dovie Tomplait; his nieces and nephews, Celeste Slatter, Wendy Gibbs, Skyla Crosslin, Glenn Dale Tomplait III, and Ryan Cunningham; along with many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing him.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Dale Tomplait Sr. and Winnie Lee Davis Tomplait. brother in law Kenneth Saxon, & niece Terrie Deann Saxon Hicks.
While our hearts grieve the loss of someone so deeply loved, we find peace in knowing that Paul has heard the words he spent his life striving to live for:
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
Though we will miss his voice, his guidance, and his unwavering love, we rejoice knowing that he is whole again, reunited with those who have gone before him, and forever in the presence of his Heavenly Father. His legacy of faith, compassion, and love will continue to live on through the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Paul’s life will be announced at a later date.
