Steven Dale Poulter

1954 ∼ 2026

Steven Dale Poulter

Steven Dale Poulter, affectionately known as Steve, 71, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on January 8, 2026, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and connection that will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on January 16, 1954, Steve was the son of Joe Dean Poulter and Jean Poulter Hays.

Above all else, Steve loved his family. He was a devoted son, brother, dad, and a proud Pop Pop who found his greatest joy in spending time with those he cherished. You could find him cheering on his two grandchildren from the stands or the sidelines of their soccer games, track or cross country meets, and volleyball games. Playing cards or games with him raised the level of fun because he was a bit competitive. Daily entertainment was always provided through his corny dad jokes.

Steve had a rare gift for getting to know people—he never met a stranger. With an easy smile and genuine interest, he could strike up a conversation with anyone. Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely will remain forever in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Dean Poulter; his mother, Jean Poulter Hays; and his grandparents, Sam and Opal Morgan; and Jack and Della Shelton Poulter.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Christy Cowart and her husband, John of Lumberton; his grandchildren, Eli and Ella Cowart of Lumberton; his brother, Randy Poulter and his wife, Paula; his nephew, Andy Poulter of Port Neches, great niece, Caylin Pinder, her husband, Chase, and their children Cameron, Caroline, and Clement; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family, and friends.

The memorial service will be Friday, January 16, 2026 at 1:30 PM at First Baptist Church Port Neches, 1900 Magnolia Ave, Port Neches, TX 77651.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Roy Esquivel Memorial Scholarship, a fund that Steve was proud to support. FBCPN, 1900 Magnolia Avenue, Port Neches, TX 77651.

Steve, Louis Fontenot, and I shared a happy and loving friendship. After working together, we spent 1 or 2 lunch meetings every month, over 2 years sharing family and work stories with love and laughter. Steve must be telling Louis funny and crazy stories now that both are at peace and pain free. My heart is heavy with their departure, but full of loving memories at the same time. Steve's gentle and kind heart was as big as his sweet smile. Steve, Mother Jean, and Louis are now with our Lord, I find comfort knowing that, and they will forever be in my thoughts. Karen

Steve was an incredible man with a big heart. My husband face would light up every time Steve would walk into the room. I never knew how close they were until he listened to Steve telling him to take his medicine. Thank you Steve for loving us. Finally, to the family because of Jesus, we have peace even in our pain, hope even in our heartbreak, and the certainty that love never dies. Steve we will always love you. Lord be with the family and friends who are grieving, be their comfort. Surround them with your peace, the peace that goes way beyond what the world can offer in Jesus name amen.

Our prayers to Steve's Family. Been years since we crossed paths but many fond memories of a humorous individual that was quite a sprinter in his younger years similar to his brother Randy.
