Obituary

In Loving Memory of Terri Bishop Toney

Terri Bishop Toney, 65, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on June 10, 2025, in Bridge City.

Born in Orange, Texas, on May 27, 1960, she was the daughter of Ezra Earl Bishop, Jr. and Frankie June Aldredge Bishop.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl Bishop Jr. and June Bishop; sons, Jeff Toney and Brad Toney; brother, Billy Bishop; and sister, Mary Ann Bishop.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David Philen and his wife, Sherry, of Bridge City; her daughter in law Rebecca Simmons and Timmy Tharp and her cherished grandchildren, Colton Toney, Shayla Toney, and Topher Tharp of Montgomery, Texas; her brothers, Mike Bishop and his wife, Linda of Bridge City; Randy Bishop, of Bridge City; Ricky Bishop of Orange; her surrogate sister Mary Jane McCarver and son Garrod Caberio of Bridge City; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and her canine companion the sweet Baby Girl.

Terri was a wonderful woman who welcomed all into her heart and home. In her youth she had countless adventures with her siblings and parents. Family vacations like camping at Red Hill Lake became a tradition shared with generations. She adored her family and was so proud to become a mother. She was fiercely protective of her boys, which also included their friends. Even when these friends, like Leon, pushed her buttons and tested her patience it made her love them even more. When her grandchildren came along her world became all about them. Calling her a doting granny would be an understatement. Her grandchildren were also her saving grace as she experienced the loss no parent should ever endure. They were her light in the darkest of storms.

Terri had other angels in her life as well and we are eternally grateful for their love and support. After the loss of her sons, Jeff and Brad, these wonderful people opened their homes to Terri providing comfort and support during a tragic time. Rebecca Simmons, Timmy Tharp, Mary Jane McCarver, and Garrod Caberio we will be forever indebted to you for your kindness, generosity, love, compassion, and selflessness.

Terri was not your traditional person and did not wish for your traditional funeral. In keeping with her wishes, the family will be organizing a celebration of life and will announce the details once arranged.

“Momma Terri” was such a sweet lady. We worked at Walmart together and she was always there for me when I needed to talk. She will be missed so much.

I've know Ms Terri since I was born honestly. I remember when she would bring me to school and we would stop each morning at McDonald's and treated me like I was her daughter. Also when I got upset her and her boys would tickle me until I was okay again. I love you and miss you
